Anma – Traditional Japanese Massage

Carlsbad-009Anma 按摩 literally means to press 按 (An) and rub 摩 (Ma). It also means to spread peace by rubbing or to calm with the hands. Over 5000 years old, this art form comes from China and Tibet.  Practiced in Korea and other countries as well, Japan is famous for perfecting the art.  Anma utilizes seven fundamental techniques including:

  • Light stroking warms the tissue
  • Rotation and Kneading increases circulation
  • Pressure on point location encourages energy flow
  • Vibration confuses and relaxes the muscle and brings it back to a natural state
  • Percussion sends deep vibrations to inner muscles
  • Heavier pressures and stretches help the joints and spine realign

Seitai – Bone Alignment

humanbackSeitai is a scientific approach to addressing the alignment of the body’s structure.  It includes the spine, the joints of the arms, legs, feet, hands and the sutures of the skull.  When joints are misaligned it causes stress on the tendons and muscles.  Misalignments of the spine and skull can affect the nervous system and can cause a myriad of ailments.  Treating your body to a Seitai session can alleviate migraines, joint pain, allergies, premenstrual syndrome, scoliosis, tennis elbow, knocked knees and bowleggedness, reduce pain caused by arthritis.

Anpuku – Internal Organ Health

Anpuku Zukai (Kenbiki)2500 years ago, Anpuku was considered the highest form of healing.  It is the ancient art of internal organ massage.  It promotes healthy organs, without which we could not live a healthy life.  As organs become stagnant, our body loses functionality.  It is also said that emotions are stored here.  Liver stores anger and the stomach stores worry for example.  The organs are also where each of the 12 energy meridian begin.  Giving healing attention to the organs propagates energy flow throughout the entire meridian system.

Kobido – Japanese Facial Massage

Taicho – Barefoot Massage

Ashiatsu-MassagePopularized by modern day Ashiatsu, Taicho incorporates the use of the feet to administer Anma.  For larger clientele who demand deep pressure, Taicho delivers.  Highly recommended for professional athletes, Taicho is typically given on a floor mat.

Tian Gong Chi Gong

DaShiQuite possibly ten thousands years old, this ancient practice of cultivating healing energies from the Universe is beyond description in it’s ability to support health and vitality.  Through cultivation, chi energy is infused into all sessions.  A Tian Gong session also makes for a wonderful light-touch acupressure session.
